Finally after months of incremental details like codenames and benchmarking specs, we now have the biggest leak yet, pictures of exactly what the device will look like, and boy is it HUGE!
Android Police has delivered the renders which show a dramatically redesigned phone which can proudly stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the Galaxy S8 and what we expect from the iPhone 8 design.
Android Police says the phone featured in the images is "Taimen" which is expected to be the second generation Pixel XL.
Here's a breakdown of the key features:
Minimal top and bottom designs
A massive 6-inch 1440p OLED display
18:9 aspect ratio (like the LG G6, Galaxy S8 uses 18.5:9)
Widened top speaker grill (possibly as secondary speaker for stereo sound)
Display has curved 3D glass but not edge panels
Significantly larger single rear camera
Reduced glass back panel
Lower placed fingerprint scanner (now in the aluminium part of the chassis)
Rear Antenna band removed
"Squeezable frame" which can be assigned to a shortcut (like HTC U11)
The Taimen will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset with 4 cores @ 1.9GHz. It will have 4GB of RAM and will be running Android O, the next generation of Android due next month.
Taimen scored a Single Core score of 1804 and a Multi Core score of 6284 on Geekbench, an industry standard benchmark for CPU performance.
